I salute and bless faithful Mothers today!
I honor faithful Fathers too.
We were in Poland helping Tarmo Kostomo several years ago. He had asked us to minister on Marriage and Family Structure. The Communist rule of the country had ended. However, the residue of political oppression still remained, taking it’s toll on family life. I remember asking God to give me a fresh picture of Ephesians 5:22-33…something simple that the people could easily understand.
He gave me a picture of a house…the roof, the walls and the windows. The roof was the father and the walls were the mother. The Roof was totally dependent on the support of the Walls. Without the wall the roof would fall. The walls on the other hand needed the protection/covering of the roof to keep the weather out. What a simplistic picture of equal submission! They both needed each other. You’ve not seen a house with only walls or a roof held up by air! Inside the house were the children, safe and sound. The roof couldn’t look at the wall and say “I’m tired of you. There’s a pretty house with pink walls down the street. I’m moving down there.” That’s what’s been happening, folks, in many Christian homes! God forgive us!
