Celebrating 60 Years

Art and Greta at Our 60th Wedding Anniversary

Approximately 100 friends honored us with their presence yesterday at our 60th Wedding anniversary!

The music provided by Connections and Rob Hess was outstanding….every one wanted to know where we found them!  We and many others wept as Rob sang “O Holy Night.” We had never heard it sung like that! It was as though we had been transported to those very moments on the holy hills of Nazareth.
Faith, Grant, Irene and Anne worked very hard.  The Homemade pies and beautiful chocolate cake soon disappeared. Our grandson, Jordan, was emcee extraordinaire!
Emails from many parts of the world were read. Brent cleverly prepared 60 Years of Family history on video. Different season’s of family life showing how much and how often we each had changed.  Good changes!  The evening was epitomised by old friends meeting old friends. How good it was!  Just the way we wanted it!
For Art and I it was an affirming evening of  knowing that we had not labored in vain.  Believe me, there is not a smidgeon of vanity in that statement. All credit and glory belongs to the Three in One  and the One in Three Who called us both in our youth.  Art was16 and I was 12 when we heard the call. God took us to Eston Bible College in 1947 so we could meet each other. I came from the west coast and Art came from south east Saskatchewan. Our first date was a moonlight walk on the glistening white snowbanks along the outskirts of the little town of Eston. We were married 18 months later, October 1st 1949, on the west coast.
In three years we had our first child; we named her Glenna Faith. Three years later our first son, Lowell Ramsay Arthur was born. Five years later, to our surprise, Brent James Douglas arrived!  They and their spouses, Grant, Kande and Tracy, respectively, have brought us much joy. They’ve given us 7 bright, good looking grandchildren and two, (soon to be three) treasures…our great - grandchildren. We bless our seed each day with the Favor of God.  It seems to be working!  God is good!
Then there is you!  We prize your friendship more than you can know.
Art and I bless you and your seed with promised provision for body, soul and spirit.
He who has called you, will also do it!
We’re shining on . . . together!

Greta, I am SO happy your combination wedding/ministry anniversary was such a resounding success! Glad mom & dad could go; I would have loved to be there. It is so wonderful to be acknowledged and honoured for your lives' testimony to God's grace and power, both in your marriage and ministry. You both have touched my life, and more particularly, YOU, Miss Greta. I consider you a friend and a mentor (if you're up for the mentorship, I'd be very happy!).

    Grateful thanks,
    margot :o )
