Today, the Press interviewed Michael Vick, convicted NFL Star / Dog-Fighting Entrepreneur.
His 18-month prison incarceration for the questionable dog sport was the topic of discussion:
When asked if he would engage in Dog-Fighting again, Vick answered:
“We each have our own iniquities . . . I have learned a lesson . . . it’s time now to push forward . . .
. . . to be pro-active . . . serve the inner city . . .to do more good than bad in my community.”
Yesterday, Vick was picked up by the Philadelphia Eagles Football Team; a new beginning for the now humbled football player. He learned a hard lesson and he is using it to turn his life around. He is thankful to be trusted once again in the sport of football..
My own digestion of all this is:
It is never too late to learn from a mistake.
It is never too late to let go of failure.
It’s always the right time to walk forward, to take hold of the future.
There’ll always be a ‘new season’ to enter . . . God planned it that way!
He knows that, lest we become proud, our human pride needs levelling every so often.
He watches us make the wrong choice, engage the bad idea. . .enact an iniquitous thought…
All the time he’s planning to redeem the wrong action by bringing good out of it..all out of love for us…his kids!!
That is precisely what Romans 8:28 is all about!
The Message:
Rom 8:28: “That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives…..is worked into something good.”
Rom 8:29:
“God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son. The Son stands first in the line of humanity he restored. We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in Him.”Rom 8:37: “The One who loves us gives us an overwhelming victory in all these difficulties.
My friend . . . I bless you with a ‘cutting forward’ stride . . . conquering wrong habits by taking hold of right ones. Not dwelling in the jungle of failure but carving a fresh swath into your future. Greater is Jesus who is in you than the evil one who is in the world . You can do all things with God’s help. In Jesus Name . . .amen!
